Ukraine advances near Kupiansk as Russia claims progress towards Sumy

Ukrainian troops advance near Kupiansk and Lyman while Russia claims gains near Sumy and targets facilities in the Kyiv region.
Fighting across eastern and northern Ukraine remains intense, with both sides reporting divergent operational updates. Ukrainian forces have reportedly made gains north of Kupiansk along the right bank of the Oskil River, with additional reports suggesting significant Ukrainian territorial control, potentially up to 200 square kilometers, could soon be announced near Lyman.
Conversely, Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed its troops captured several settlements near Sumy. In the Kyiv region, Russian forces targeted ammunition storage sites. Meanwhile, in the southern Zaporizhzhia sector, Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, publicly denied recent reports of Ukrainian tactical successes. Both forces continue active engagements along multiple fronts.
