Trump claims Russia-Ukraine energy truce while Zelenskyy sets conditions

Former US President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine and Russia have agreed to halt attacks on each other’s energy facilities. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy specified that Kyiv will suspend strikes on Russian energy infrastructure only if Western allies ensure Moscow simultaneously stops targeting Ukrainian power grids, critical infrastructure, and food supply routes.

The developments follow continued hostilities across multiple regions. Russian strikes in the Kherson area killed two people and injured 14 others. Meanwhile, Ukrainian drone attacks injured seven people in Sochi and the Belgorod region. European Union diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned a Russian strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border, framing it as a deliberate effort to intimidate and divide European nations. Additionally, Zelenskyy issued a decree dismissing Ukraine’s state prosecutor.
