Trump claims Russia and Ukraine agreed to pause energy strikes

US President Donald Trump reported an agreement between Moscow and Kyiv to avoid energy targets, while the EU extended sanctions and casualties were reported in Kherson and Belgorod.
US President Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to halt strikes against each other's energy infrastructure, even as combat operations persist on multiple fronts. Local officials reported two deaths and 14 injuries from Russian shelling in Ukraine's Kherson region, while Ukrainian drone strikes in Sochi and Russia's Belgorod region injured seven people.
Concurrently, the European Union prolonged its sanctions against Moscow. EU diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned a Russian attack on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border, characterizing it as an effort to intimidate and divide Europeans. In Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree dismissing the nation's prosecutor general.
