Trump and Xi discuss Ukraine and global security in White House summit

US President Donald Trump held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House during Xi's first state visit to the United States in over a decade. According to statements from the Chinese foreign ministry, the three-day summit covered major global security topics, including the war in Ukraine, the Middle East crisis, and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

Trump offered a notable diplomatic gesture by greeting Xi directly at his aircraft upon arrival. The meeting followed recent requests from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asking Washington to urge Beijing to influence Moscow toward de-escalation. Analysts suggested Beijing might seek economic or trade incentives in exchange for altering its diplomatic alignment with Russia.
