Russia has established defensive rings around major cities following Ukrainian drone strikes, while Russian raids on Kyiv killed at least 17 people.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia relocated air defense systems from other regions to form three defensive rings around Moscow and Saint Petersburg following recent Ukrainian drone attacks. The Ukrainian strikes targeted several locations, including Belgorod, Crimea, and the Black Sea coast near Gelendzhik, alongside reported strikes near Moscow's outskirts.

Concurrently, Russian forces launched heavy bombardments against Ukrainian targets, dropping glide bombs on Zaporizhzhia and striking the Kyiv region. The attacks on Kyiv left at least 17 people dead and 44 injured, prompting Zelensky to reiterate calls for Western air defense interceptors. Meanwhile, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine would not voluntarily retreat from Donbas and expressed confidence in post-war security commitments from the United States.
