Media reports suggest Russia is testing readiness for a potential post-election military mobilization wave as frontline manpower demands grow.

Russian authorities are testing logistics and expanding infrastructure in preparation for a potential new military mobilization wave following the upcoming State Duma elections, according to media reports citing Western intelligence and news outlets. Exercises recently conducted in regions including Kaliningrad focused on housing, arming, and supplying prospective recruits.

While President Vladimir Putin has not formally ordered a draft, Russia has implemented an electronic registry of military-eligible citizens and reinforced corporate record-keeping requirements. Mounting pressure on manpower reserves due to frontline casualties and rising recruitment costs for contract soldiers are driving these preparations.

Western officials and analysts project that intense combat could extend through 2027, with additional forces potentially supporting anticipated offensives toward Sloviansk and Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine.
