Portugal's minority government survived a censure motion by the Chega party after the main opposition Socialist Party abstained.

Portugal's minority Democratic Alliance government has survived a parliamentary censure motion introduced by the right-wing populist Chega party. The motion was defeated following a three-hour debate focused on recent controversies within the Ministry of Internal Administration.

The ruling coalition voted against the initiative, while the main opposition Socialist Party abstained, guaranteeing the outcome. Following the debate, Minister of the Presidency António Leitão Amaro criticized Chega's tactics, stating that voters would eventually deliver political judgment on the party. He emphasized that the government intends to maintain its strategy of negotiating individual legislative proposals on a case-by-case basis rather than forming a permanent alliance with a preferred political partner.
