128 nations agreed on a definition for autonomous weapons in Geneva as Western militaries step up AI integration in operational systems.

In Geneva, 128 nations established an official definition for autonomous weapon systems, marking progress in international regulatory efforts. The consensus follows joint warnings from the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding machines targeting human beings.

Concurrently, Western militaries are accelerating artificial intelligence integration. Germany's Ministry of Defence stated that semi-autonomous systems may perform operational functions independently under specific circumstances, provided ultimate decision-making over lethal force remains under human control. To preserve data sovereignty, the German military decided to build a proprietary AI analytics platform rather than utilizing software from American vendor Palantir. Additionally, Ukraine and NATO have co-developed two AI models to predict adversary drone trajectories and assist artillery targeting.
