Portugal's Left Bloc has proposed measures to guarantee abortion access in public healthcare following service suspensions at Garcia de Orta Hospital.

Portugal’s Left Bloc has introduced a parliamentary resolution calling for guaranteed, timely access to voluntary pregnancy terminations within the National Health Service. The political action follows reports from local patient committees that abortion services were discontinued at Garcia de Orta Hospital, though health authorities stated the interruption is merely a temporary suspension.

In social affairs, domestic violence remains a major challenge in Portugal, with official data indicating more than 14,000 reported cases, averaging 82 daily incidents.
