Portugal's Left Bloc has submitted a resolution advocating for guaranteed abortion access, alongside reports on domestic violence, Afghan refugee resettlement, and Atlantic migration routes.

Portugal's Left Bloc has introduced a parliamentary resolution calling on the government to ensure timely access to legal abortion services within the National Health Service. The legislative effort follows reports from local patient committees that Garcia de Orta Hospital halted pregnancy terminations, though local health authorities maintained the disruption is temporary.

Meanwhile, national statistics highlight ongoing domestic abuse concerns, with authorities recording more than 14,000 complaints, representing an average of 82 incidents daily. In social developments, eight Afghan women marked one year of resettlement in Portugal after fleeing Taliban restrictions on female education and employment.

Separately, the International Organization for Migration reported a 78 percent drop in West African Atlantic route migration during early 2026, citing enhanced border cooperation between Senegal and Mauritania.
