Russian airstrikes killed 17 in Kyiv as Ukrainian retaliatory drone attacks hit Moscow suburbs and Crimea. Meanwhile, Italy intercepted a shadow fleet tanker.

Russian airstrikes struck Kyiv and surrounding regions, killing at least 17 people and injuring 44, according to Ukrainian officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reiterated calls for Western interceptors, stating that stronger air defenses "could have saved the life of those who were killed today." Concurrently, Russian forces targeted port infrastructure in Odesa and dropped glide bombs on Zaporizhzhia.

In retaliatory actions, Ukrainian drones struck Crimea, Belgorod, and Gelendzhik, leaving 12 civilians dead, including three children. Separate strikes near Moscow resulted in five fatalities, while a suicide bombing outside a Moscow venue targeted Russia's air force chief.

Beyond the battlefield, the Italian Navy boarded a suspected Russian shadow fleet oil tanker near Pantelleria. Politically, former U.S. President Donald Trump cautioned against sharing Patriot missile technology secrets. Meanwhile, reports emerged from Russia detailing fraudulent marriages arranged to claim war death compensations.
