Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally rejected a 15-point peace proposal for Gaza endorsed by US President Donald Trump. Speaking in televised remarks to his cabinet, Netanyahu stated that "Israel rejects the 15-point document" and insisted military forces "will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is genuinely disarmed."
The decision underscores an intensifying diplomatic rift between Israel and the United States, despite a recent pause in Israeli offensive operations following American pressure. Hamas had previously accepted the 15-point framework, which was announced by the US administration last month.
Netanyahu's refusal comes as he prepares for parliamentary elections on October 27. The prime minister faces competing pressure from far-right coalition partners who oppose concessions in Gaza and the US administration's push for a long-term settlement.
