Heavy front-line fighting persists across eastern Ukraine amid contested claims
Ukrainian forces engaged in over 220 daily battles across eastern sectors as heavy fighting continued near Pokrovsk and Lyman, while overnight Russian drone strikes caused civilian casualties.
Ukrainian forces reported over 220 combat engagements across eastern front lines within 24 hours, with heavy Russian assaults concentrated in the Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Kostiantynivka sectors. North of Kupiansk, Ukrainian infantry executed localized counter-advances along the Oskil River after suppressing Russian drone capabilities.
Disagreements persist over territorial developments across several sectors. While Ukrainian sources reported advances near Lyman and Kupiansk, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have captured several settlements near Sumy and rejected reports of Ukrainian gains in Zaporizhzhia.
Meanwhile, Russian forces launched an overnight strike involving 138 drones across multiple Ukrainian regions. Local authorities reported civilian fatalities from the barrage, including a mother and two children in Kyiv Oblast and a clergyman in Kherson Oblast.
