Heavy fighting persists across Ukrainian frontlines as drone strikes cause civilian casualties
Ukrainian forces repelled over 250 Russian assaults across key frontline sectors, while night-time drone attacks resulted in civilian fatalities in Kyiv and Kherson oblasts.
Ukrainian forces reported over 250 combat clashes across frontlines over 24 hours, with intense Russian assaults concentrated in the Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Kostiantynivka sectors. North of Kupiansk, Ukrainian troops executed infantry clearing operations along the Oskil River after suppressing Russian drone capabilities.
Territorial claims differed along several axes. While Ukrainian reports highlighted advances near Lyman, Russia's Defense Ministry claimed control of several settlements approaching Sumy. Russian General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov also denied reports of Ukrainian tactical progress in Zaporizhzhia.
Concurrently, Russian forces launched 138 drones in overnight strikes across Ukraine. A strike in Kyiv Oblast killed a mother and her two children, while another attack in Kherson Oblast hit a monastery, killing a priest.
