Heavy fighting persists across eastern Ukraine amid Russian drone strikes
Intense combat continues across eastern Ukraine as Ukrainian troops advance near Kupiansk, while overnight Russian drone strikes cause civilian fatalities in Kyiv and Kherson regions.
Ukrainian forces reported over 250 daily combat engagements across eastern sectors, with intense assaults concentrated around Lyman, Kostiantynivka, and Pokrovsk. Ukrainian troops conducted localized counter-advances along the Oskil River north of Kupiansk following operations against Russian drone positions.
Disagreements remain over territorial developments, as Russian officials claimed gains near Sumy and denied Ukrainian progress in Zaporizhzhia, while Ukrainian sources reported advances near Lyman.
Away from the front lines, Russian forces launched an overnight barrage of 138 drones across Ukraine. The strikes resulted in civilian fatalities, including a mother and two children in Kyiv Oblast and a clergyman in Kherson Oblast.
