Heavy combat continues across eastern Ukraine as territorial claims diverge

Military engagements across eastern Ukraine remain intense, with the Ukrainian General Staff reporting between 220 and 250 daily combat clashes. Russian forces conducted heavy assaults targeting Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, and Lyman.

To the north, Ukrainian troops advanced along the Oskil River near Kupiansk following electronic warfare operations that disrupted Russian drones. Reports also point to potential Ukrainian gains of up to 200 square kilometers near Lyman.

However, territorial claims remain disputed. The Russian Defense Ministry reported capturing several settlements near Sumy, whereas Russian General Valery Gerasimov explicitly denied Ukrainian advances in the Zaporizhzhia region.
