France's Constitutional Council approved end-of-life and agricultural legislation while invalidating a proposed social media ban for under-15s.

France's Constitutional Council has validated the country's end-of-life legislation and emergency agricultural law, while striking down a proposed ban on social media for children under 15.

The high court ruled that the end-of-life bill aligns with the constitution, subject to three interpretative reservations. Crucially, the ruling guarantees a conscience clause, allowing private and religious healthcare establishments to refrain from participating in assisted dying procedures. French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the decision, stating that it "parachève un débat démocratique exemplaire".

In contrast, the Council invalidated the core provision of a separate bill prohibiting social media access for minors under 15, deeming the general ban an excessive restriction on personal freedom.
