France's Constitutional Council has approved assisted dying legislation with reservations while striking down a proposed social media ban for minors under 15.

France's Constitutional Council has validated legislation establishing a conditional right to assisted dying alongside an emergency agricultural reform bill. The high court issued three interpretative reservations regarding end-of-life care, notably safeguarding a conscience clause for private and religious healthcare institutions.

However, the council invalidated Article 1 of a separate digital safety bill aimed at banning social media access for minors under 15 years old. Magistrates ruled that imposing a general prohibition was unconstitutionally broad, effectively dismantling a key policy initiative.

Responding to the decisions, French President Emmanuel Macron praised the overall process, stating the outcome "completes an exemplary democratic debate."
