France's Constitutional Council has validated an assisted dying law and agricultural reform, while striking down a proposed social media ban for under-15s.

France's Constitutional Council has approved landmark legislation establishing a conditional right to assisted dying, while striking down a proposed ban on social media access for children under 15 years old.

In its decision, the high court upheld the assisted dying framework alongside a separate emergency agricultural reform bill. However, the justices included three interpretative reservations regarding end-of-life care, specifically preserving a conscience clause for private and religious healthcare facilities.

Conversely, the court invalidated Article 1 of the digital safety bill. Magistrates ruled that imposing a general restriction on minors was unconstitutionally broad, effectively nullifying a flagship policy initiative. Following the ruling, French President Emmanuel Macron praised the overall legislative process, stating that the outcome "completes an exemplary democratic debate."
