France's Constitutional Council has approved conditional end-of-life legislation while striking down a proposed social media ban for minors under 15.

France's Constitutional Council has approved landmark end-of-life legislation, clearing the final legal hurdle for conditional assisted dying and euthanasia. While validating the reform, the court issued three interpretative reservations, notably establishing a conscience clause allowing private and faith-based medical institutions to refrain from providing the procedures.

In a concurrent decision, the Council invalidated the primary clause of a digital safety bill attempting to ban social media access for children under 15, determining the general prohibition was overly broad. Meanwhile, key provisions of an emergency agricultural reform bill were upheld.

French President Emmanuel Macron praised the end-of-life ruling, describing it as completing an "exemplary democratic debate."
