France's Constitutional Council approved conditional assisted dying while striking down a proposed social media ban for under-15s.

France’s Constitutional Council has validated landmark legislation creating a conditional right to assisted dying, clearing the way for its official promulgation. In its ruling, the court declared the law constitutional while issuing three interpretative reservations, including a conscience clause allowing private and faith-based healthcare facilities to opt out of performing end-of-life procedures.

In a separate decision, the council struck down the primary provision of a proposed digital safety bill that sought a general ban on social media access for minors under 15, deeming the restriction excessively broad. Additionally, key elements of an emergency agricultural bill received judicial approval.

President Emmanuel Macron commended the court’s decision on end-of-life care, stating it "parachève un débat démocratique exemplaire".
