French cities reported relative calm following targeted overnight curfews, as President Emmanuel Macron rejected a resignation offer from Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez.

French cities experienced a quieter night following the implementation of targeted overnight curfews in key urban districts, according to Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu. The localized movement restrictions were introduced across specific zones in Paris, Marseille, and other regions after widespread weekend demonstrations over living costs and school standards descended into rioting and looting.

Lecornu attributed the destruction to radical left-wing groups and opportunists, indicating that broader emergency powers could be considered if violence recurs. Meanwhile, President Emmanuel Macron acknowledged operational lapses after police briefly lost control during peak clashes, resulting in more than 2,400 detentions nationwide. Despite the criticism, Macron rejected a resignation offer submitted by Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, keeping him in office to oversee the security response.
