Fraunhofer researchers develop AI platform for regional civil protection
Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute are developing an AI-powered platform under the RegioGuard-PRO project to improve disaster response and civil protection for local authorities.
Researchers at Germany's Fraunhofer Institute for High-Speed Dynamics, Ernst-Mach-Institut, have announced the development of an artificial intelligence-supported platform to enhance regional civil protection. Developed under the RegioGuard-PRO project, the AI cockpit aims to assist municipalities and emergency response authorities during major crises, including extreme weather events, fires, and critical infrastructure outages.
Currently, disaster management personnel often struggle to aggregate scattered data into a single real-time operational overview. The new software addresses this challenge by integrating diverse data streams to create a consistent situational picture for decision-makers. The system is designed to streamline communication and response coordination during regional emergency scenarios.
