France's Constitutional Council has validated landmark end-of-life legislation with reservations while striking down a proposed social media ban for minors under 15.

France’s Constitutional Council has validated the nation’s landmark assisted dying legislation while striking down a proposed ban on social media access for children under 15.

The court approved the end-of-life law, ruling that parliament properly exercised its authority over major societal reforms. However, justices attached three interpretative reservations, notably confirming a conscience clause that allows private and religious healthcare facilities to refuse administering end-of-life procedures. French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the decision, stating it "completes an exemplary democratic debate."

Concurrently, the Council invalidated the central provision of a digital regulation bill prohibiting social media use for under-15s, deeming the general ban a disproportionate restriction on public liberties. The constitutional court also approved provisions within an agricultural emergency law as part of its August rulings.
