Fighting escalates across eastern Ukraine as drone strikes hit civilian areas

Clashes across Ukraine's eastern front remain intense, with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recording between 221 and 254 combat engagements in a single day. Major active sectors include Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Kostiantynivka, where Ukrainian troops repelled dozens of Russian assaults.

In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian units conducted infantry operations along the Oskil River following electronic suppression of Russian drone networks. Reports also suggest possible Ukrainian tactical advances near Lyman. Conversely, Russia's Defense Ministry claimed its forces seized several locations near Sumy, while Russian General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov denied reports of Ukrainian gains in Zaporizhzhia.

Simultaneously, Russian aerial attacks continued across the country. An overnight strike involving 138 drones resulted in the deaths of a mother and her two children in Kyiv Oblast, alongside a separate fatal strike on a Kherson monastery.
