EU warns Moscow over European sabotage as Russian strikes target Kyiv

Russian forces launched overnight drone strikes targeting Kyiv, injuring a resident following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's address at the United Nations General Assembly. Russian military officials separately confirmed a deliberate campaign aimed at destroying Ukraine's energy network ahead of the winter months. In retaliation, Ukrainian aerial attacks against Russian fuel storage and refining facilities have constrained domestic supplies, forcing Moscow to import petroleum products.

Meanwhile, security concerns escalated in Western Europe after authorities identified two suspects with ties to Moscow in connection with explosive drone incidents in Leipzig, Germany. Reacting to the potential sabotage on European Union soil, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the bloc "will not tolerate attacks" on member states and declared that defensive responses are prepared.
