EU extends sanctions on Russia following border train attack

The EU extended sanctions on Russia after a border train attack, as clashes continue and US President Trump claims an energy infrastructure agreement.
The European Union has prolonged its sanctions against Russia following a Russian strike on a train close to the Ukrainian-Polish border. EU diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned the incident, stating the attack was designed to intimidate European nations and foment internal divisions.
Meanwhile, hostilities continue on multiple fronts. Local officials reported that two individuals died and 14 sustained injuries during Russian shelling in the Kherson region. Additionally, Ukrainian drone strikes reportedly injured seven people across Russia's Sochi and Belgorod regions.
In political developments, US President Donald Trump stated that Moscow and Kyiv had agreed to halt attacks targeting energy infrastructure. Domestically, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree formally dismissing the country's prosecutor general.
