The EU has extended sanctions against Russia following a missile attack near the Polish border, as military strikes and political dismissals continue in Ukraine.

The European Union has prolonged its sanction regime against Russia after a missile struck a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned the strike, characterizing it as an attempt to intimidate European nations and create internal divisions.

The renewed measures coincide with ongoing military actions across the region. Ukrainian officials reported two fatalities and 14 injuries from Russian artillery strikes in the Kherson region. Meanwhile, Ukrainian drone operations reportedly left seven individuals injured across Sochi and Russia's Belgorod region.

In parallel political developments, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree removing the nation's prosecutor general from office. This dismissal occurred as US President Donald Trump stated that Moscow and Kyiv had reached an agreement to temporarily halt attacks targeting energy infrastructure.
