EU extends Russia sanctions as Trump announces energy infrastructure deal

The EU extended sanctions on Russia following a train strike, while Trump reported a Kyiv-Moscow deal to protect energy targets.
The European Union has extended sanctions against Russia following a strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned the attack, describing it as an effort to "intimidate and divide Europeans."
On the battlefield, local authorities reported two deaths and 14 injuries from shelling in Ukraine's Kherson region. Ukrainian drone strikes reportedly injured seven individuals across Russia's Belgorod and Sochi regions.
In diplomatic developments, US President Donald Trump stated that Moscow and Kyiv have reached an agreement to refrain from attacking energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree formally dismissing the nation's prosecutor general.
