The European Union has extended sanctions against Russia following a strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated the attack was aimed at intimidating European allies and sowing division.
On the ground, military actions persist. Russian shelling in Ukraine's Kherson region killed two people and wounded 14 others. Meanwhile, Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Russia's Belgorod region and Sochi resulted in seven injuries.
In political developments, US President Donald Trump claimed both warring nations agreed to cease targeting energy infrastructure. In Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued an executive decree dismissing the country's prosecutor general.
