The EU extended sanctions on Russia following a border train attack, while Donald Trump claimed a temporary energy truce was reached despite continued fighting and a high-level firing in Kyiv.

The European Union has renewed sanctions against Russia following a missile strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated the attack was aimed at intimidating European countries.

The move comes alongside claims from US President Donald Trump that Moscow and Kyiv have agreed to temporarily stop attacks on energy infrastructure. However, combat operations persist across several regions. Local officials reported that Russian shelling in Kherson left two people dead and 14 injured, while Ukrainian drone strikes reportedly injured seven individuals in Belgorod and Sochi.

In domestic political developments, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree dismissing the nation's prosecutor general.
