New EU rules condition Ukrainian residency on military duties while Czech authorities investigate agency labor fraud and grapple with internal friction over official visits to Kyiv.

New European Union rules extending temporary protection status for displaced Ukrainians until March 2028 have taken effect, explicitly linking residency rights to the fulfillment of military obligations toward Ukraine.

In the Czech Republic, enforcement attention has shifted toward labor market irregularities. The specialized police task force Kobra 26 is investigating complex employment agency chains suspected of evading taxes and social insurance contributions, potentially costing the state billions of korunas.

Concurrently, Czech official travel to Ukraine continues to generate domestic administrative tension. Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Barbora Urbanová met Ukrainian lawmakers in Kyiv despite her travel request being previously rejected by the parliamentary organizational committee. Meanwhile, Chief of General Staff Miroslav Hlaváč is awaiting defense ministry authorization to attend an upcoming security conference in Ukraine.
