Military officials and security experts met in Sarajevo for a regional defense conference, while Bosnia and Herzegovina announced the expansion of its military production.

Military officials, diplomats, and security experts gathered in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the fourth Sarajevo Security Conference to examine key European defense challenges. Speaking at the event, EUROCONTROL Major General Karsten Stoye designated low-altitude uncrewed aircraft as the primary emerging threat to European airspace over the next five years. Additionally, NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten stressed the critical need to integrate uncrewed maritime systems and artificial intelligence into naval strategies.

Alongside the conference, regional defense capabilities were showcased at the First Balkan Shield 2026 exhibition. Government officials announced plans to open two new manufacturing plants, noting that national arms production has doubled over the last three years to enhance domestic security and expand export capacity.
