Sarajevo hosts security talks with NATO and EUROCONTROL officials while Bosnia and Herzegovina announces the expansion of its domestic defense industry.

The fourth Sarajevo Security Conference gathered over 140 defense experts, diplomats, and military leaders in Bosnia and Herzegovina to address evolving European security threats. During the event, EUROCONTROL official Major General Karsten Stoye cited low-altitude uncrewed aerial vehicles as the principal airspace challenge for the coming five years. Concurrently, NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten emphasized integrating artificial intelligence and uncrewed surface vessels into naval strategy to safeguard maritime corridors.

In tandem with the security discussions, authorities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina showcased defense manufacturing at the First Balkan Shield 2026 defense exhibition. Officials confirmed plans to open two new production facilities, highlighting that domestic military output has doubled over the past three years to strengthen both national defense and international market competitiveness.
