The fourth Sarajevo Security Conference addressed emerging airspace threats, AI integration, and Bosnia and Herzegovina's plans to expand its domestic defense manufacturing capacity.

Military leaders, diplomats, and security experts gathered in Sarajevo for the fourth Sarajevo Security Conference alongside the "First Balkan Shield 2026" defense exhibition.

EUROCONTROL official Karsten Stoye warned that low-altitude uncrewed aerial vehicles represent the primary upcoming challenge for European airspace safety over the next five years. Meanwhile, NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten emphasized the growing necessity of integrating artificial intelligence and uncrewed surface vessels into modern naval strategy.

Concurrently, officials in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced plans to open two new defense production facilities. Entity leaders highlighted that domestic military output has doubled over the past three years, aiming to boost national security and increase competitiveness in international arms markets.
