Czech Republic prepares for hybrid threats as EU updates Ukrainian protection rules

The security preparations coincide with internal political debate over official travel to Ukraine. Chief of General Staff Miroslav Hlaváč awaits defense ministry authorization to attend a military summit in Kyiv, while Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Barbora Urbanová visited Ukrainian lawmakers despite a prior rejection by a domestic committee.

Meanwhile, updated European Union regulations extend temporary protection status for displaced Ukrainians until March 2028, while making eligibility contingent on fulfilling military duties to Ukraine. Domestically, Czech law enforcement established the "Kobra 26" task force to investigate illegal labor agency networks accused of defrauding the state of billions in revenue.
