Cross-border strikes persist despite diplomatic talks and reported pause

Despite announced commitments to pause strikes on capitals and avoid energy infrastructure targets during talks with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, cross-border violence persisted overnight. Russian shelling in Kherson killed two people and injured 14, while a strike in Zaporizhzhia killed a 74-year-old man. Ukrainian drone attacks in Russia's Belgorod region and Sochi injured seven people.

Meanwhile, reports indicated Ukrainian units received orders for a four-day operational pause to coincide with US mediation efforts, even as regional fighting continued along multiple front lines.
