Cross-border strikes persist as Trump claims Ukraine and Russia agreed to halt energy attacks

Cross-border attacks between Russia and Ukraine continued overnight, causing multiple casualties despite ongoing visits by U.S. peace envoys and claims by U.S. President Donald Trump that both nations agreed to halt energy infrastructure strikes.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated Kyiv would cease strikes on Russian energy targets only if Western partners guarantee Moscow also refrains from attacking Ukraine's energy grid, supply routes, and food infrastructure. Meanwhile, European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned a Russian attack on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border, describing it as an attempt to divide and intimidate Europe.

Russian strikes across several regions killed at least four civilians, while Ukrainian drones targeted sites in Sochi, Belgorod, and an oil refinery.
