Cross-border strikes between Russia and Ukraine escalate as Kyiv faces fresh raids and Moscow establishes triple-ring air defenses.

Cross-border military operations between Russia and Ukraine have intensified, causing widespread damage and civilian casualties. Russian airstrikes targeted Kyiv and residential areas in Zaporizhzhia, leaving at least 17 dead and dozens wounded. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated calls for Western air defense interceptors, maintaining that Ukraine will not voluntarily yield territory in the Donbas.

In response to recent Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Crimea, Belgorod, and locations near Moscow, Russian forces redeployed air defense systems to construct three defensive rings around Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Amid the ongoing strikes, diplomatic discussions remain focused on foreign military aid. Concerns were raised by US political figures regarding the transfer of sensitive defense technology involved in proposed Patriot missile agreements. Separately, Italian authorities intercepted a Russian shadow fleet oil tanker near Pantelleria.
