Intense aerial strikes by Russian and Ukrainian forces have resulted in dozens of casualties, as Ukrainian officials report layered Russian air defense rings protecting Moscow.

Intense cross-border strikes have inflicted heavy casualties across Ukraine and Russia as aerial bombardments intensify on both fronts. Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and the surrounding region killed at least 17 people and wounded dozens, while glide bombs struck residential areas in Zaporizhzhia. In response to the strikes, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated urgent requests for Western air defense interceptors.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian drone and artillery attacks hit several Russian regions, including Belgorod, the Black Sea coast near Gelendzhik, Crimea, and the outskirts of Moscow, resulting in multiple civilian casualties. Ukrainian intelligence reported that Russia deployed three concentric air defense rings around Moscow and Saint Petersburg to counter incoming drones.

On the diplomatic front, Zelensky highlighted anticipated post-war security guarantees from the United States, while former US President Donald Trump urged caution regarding manufacturing Patriot missile systems directly inside Ukraine.
