Severe cross-border aerial bombardments between Russia and Ukraine have caused widespread casualties, prompting renewed calls from Kyiv for advanced Western air defense systems.

Intense cross-border strikes between Russian and Ukrainian forces have resulted in widespread casualties across several regions. In Ukraine, Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and surrounding areas killed at least 17 people and injured over 40, while guided aerial bombs struck residential neighborhoods in Zaporizhzhia. President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated calls for enhanced Western missile interceptors to protect civilians.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian drone operations targeted several Russian regions and occupied territories, inflicting fatalities near Moscow, in Belgorod, Crimea, and along the Black Sea coast near Gelendzhik. Zelensky reported that Moscow has concentrated three layers of air defense systems around major cities, redirecting equipment from active front lines.

Diplomatic focus also centered on post-war security arrangements and weapons technology sharing, alongside reports of maritime enforcement against Russia's shadow tanker fleet in the Mediterranean.
