Clashes persist across Ukrainian fronts as both sides claim localized gains
Heavy fighting continues across Ukraine as Kyiv reports advances near Kupiansk and Lyman, while Moscow claims gains near Sumy and denies Zaporizhzhia breakthroughs.
Fighting remains intense across several sectors in Ukraine, with opposing military commanders presenting conflicting accounts of battlefield progress. North of Kupiansk, Ukrainian forces are advancing along the right bank of the Oskil River, while military officials prepare to announce the liberation of nearly 200 square kilometres in the Lyman direction.
Conversely, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed its troops captured several settlements approaching Sumy and targeted ammunition depots within the Kyiv region. On the southern front in Zaporizhzhia, General Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, publicly rejected reports of Ukrainian army breakthroughs, stating that Russian defensive lines remain intact.
