EU extends sanctions on Russia following train strike near Polish border
The EU has extended sanctions against Russia after a missile hit a train near the Polish border, as frontline violence persists in Kherson, Belgorod, and Sochi.
The European Union has renewed its sanctions against Russia following a missile attack on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. EU top diplomat Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated the strike aimed to intimidate European nations and sow internal divisions.
Despite reports of an informal pact between Moscow and Kyiv to refrain from striking energy targets, military operations continued across several fronts. Russian shelling in Ukraine's Kherson region killed two people and injured 14 others. In turn, drone strikes targeting Russia's Belgorod region and Sochi left seven individuals wounded.
Domestically, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a presidential decree dismissing the country's prosecutor general from office.
