Heavy combat persists in eastern Ukraine as both sides report tactical movements
Ukrainian forces repel dozens of Russian assaults in Pokrovsk and Lyman as daily combat engagements surge, while tactical shifts and conflicting claims emerge across the front.
Heavy combat continues across eastern Ukraine, where the Ukrainian General Staff reported between 221 and 254 combat engagements in recent 24-hour periods. Russian troops launched repeated assaults aimed at breaching Ukrainian positions in the Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Kostiantynivka sectors.
Localized tactical movements were also reported along multiple fronts. Ukrainian troops reportedly advanced on the right bank of the Oskil River north of Kupyansk and made gains in the Lyman sector. In contrast, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed control of several settlements near Sumy, while Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov rejected reports of Ukrainian progress in the Zaporizhzhia region. Additionally, strikes targeted ammunition depots in the Kyiv region.
