Iran has transitioned to a completely offensive military posture following the failure of peace talks with the US and the expiration of a 60-day truce.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated following the collapse of peace negotiations and the expiration of a 60-day memorandum of understanding signed in June. Iranian authorities announced a shift toward a "completely offensive" military posture, with armed forces declaring they will pursue the "complete defeat" of American forces in the region.

The diplomatic impasse coincides with direct military engagements at sea. United States Central Command reported targeting five Iranian oil tankers, sinking one vessel, in retaliation for Iranian strikes against an American warship. Analysts highlight that growing domestic economic strain and disputes regarding maritime control in the Strait of Hormuz are increasing the risk of a wider regional conflict as Washington declines to extend the temporary truce.
