European Union extends sanctions on Russia amid ongoing strikes
The EU extended sanctions against Russia following a border train attack, while casualties were reported across Kherson, Sochi, and Belgorod amid ongoing fighting.
The European Union has renewed its sanctions against Russia following a missile strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. European foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned the incident, stating the attack aimed to intimidate European nations and sow internal division.
Simultaneously, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Kyiv and Moscow agreed to halt strikes on each other's energy infrastructure. In Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky formally dismissed the country's prosecutor general via official decree.
On the battlefield, casualties persist on both sides. Ukrainian officials reported two deaths and 14 injuries from Russian artillery in Kherson. Meanwhile, cross-border Ukrainian drone attacks reportedly injured seven people across Russia's Belgorod and Sochi regions.
