Ukraine sets conditions for energy strike pause following Trump claims
Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined conditions for halting energy strikes following claims by Donald Trump, as cross-border attacks continued ahead of UN talks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated Kyiv would pause strikes on Russian energy targets only if Western allies guarantee Moscow refrains from attacking Ukrainian energy facilities, infrastructure, and food supply routes. The clarification followed claims by Donald Trump that both nations had agreed to a mutual halt on targeting energy infrastructure.
Meanwhile, military strikes persisted on both sides. Russian missile and drone attacks across several regions killed at least four people, including two in Kherson. EU High Representative Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned a Russian strike near the Polish border as an attempt to intimidate European partners. Concurrently, Ukrainian drone attacks hit a Russian oil refinery and injured seven people in Sochi and Belgorod. The ongoing exchanges coincide with Zelenskyy's visit to the United States for the United Nations General Assembly.
