U.S. completes major crude transit through Strait of Hormuz amid rising military tension
The U.S. completed its largest crude oil escort through the Strait of Hormuz since conflict began, as Iran deployed sea mines and renewed demands for sanction relief.
The United States conducted its largest crude oil transport operation through the Strait of Hormuz since conflict began six months ago, using air, maritime, and space assets to escort tankers during night-time crossings. Iranian forces responded by deploying rocket-launched sea mines, prompting a U.S. military strike against targets on Larak Island.
Tehran reiterated that the strategic waterway will remain restricted until Washington meets its terms, including lifting petroleum sanctions, ending port blockades, releasing frozen assets, and halting military operations. Prior to the conflict, roughly 20 million barrels of crude oil passed through the strait daily.
