Israel rejects US Gaza peace plan until Hamas disarms
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected Donald Trump's 15-point Gaza peace proposal, demanding Hamas fully disarm before any troop withdrawal.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally rejected a 15-point peace proposal for Gaza championed by US President Donald Trump. Speaking to his cabinet, Netanyahu reiterated that Israeli forces "will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is genuinely disarmed."
The document, which was accepted by Hamas in late July, aimed to establish a lasting ceasefire and secure a military withdrawal. However, Netanyahu's refusal highlights growing friction between Washington and Tel Aviv, even as Israeli forces have temporarily suspended strikes under American diplomatic pressure.
Netanyahu faces mounting pressure from far-right coalition partners while managing relations with his primary international ally ahead of Israel's national elections scheduled for October 27. Meanwhile, related regional tensions persisted as Houthi militants separately reported strikes targeting energy and port infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
