US administration rejects reports of military stockpile shortages amid Iran conflict
US leaders deny reports of depleted military stockpiles while claiming talks with Iran have resumed despite Tehran's denials.
US President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have rejected media reports alleging critical ammunition shortages stemming from ongoing conflict with Iran. Writing on Truth Social, Trump insisted the military holds "vast amounts of 'ammunition'" and threatened journalists reporting on stock depletion with severe prison terms.
Contradictions also persist regarding diplomatic efforts. Trump stated that negotiations with Tehran have resumed, describing them as a final opportunity to reach a deal, whereas Iranian representatives previously denied that any discussions were occurring or planned.
At the same time, prolonged deployments in the region continue to raise operational concerns. Reports highlight declining morale and mental fatigue among the crew of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, warning that strain could result in "deadly mistakes."
